SPECTRA PRECISION PRODUCTS: GPS Week Number Rollover (WNRO) – Action Required

This article is for Customers who own Spectra Precision Products:

What is WNRO?
WNRO is that moment when the GPS week number switches from 1023 to 0 (more information on this particular event in the Support Bulletin below).

What is the consequence of the rollover?
Any GNSS receiver that does not account for this rollover will report an erroneous date. Due to the WNRO, a GPS receiver that does not have compliant firmware will see errors.
Most Spectra GNSS receivers require a firmware update to successfully handle the WRNO.

What action is needed?
The Spectra GNSS receivers’ firmware MUST be upgraded. This is MANDATORY. Please reach out to your customers immediately and instruct them to download and install the latest compliant firmware for their perspective receivers. If your customers do not take action by April 6, 2019, their receivers will stop functioning correctly.

What do I need to do if I own Spectra Precision Equipment?

  • On page 2 of the Support Note below, users need to download the firmware upgrade needed by clicking on the corresponding link. If they own several models of Spectra GNSS receivers, they will need to download the firmware upgrade for each model.
  • Follow the specific instructions to install the firmware upgrade in each of their receivers.
