The radio will turn on and you're able to change the options on the face plate using the buttons. After left running for a little while the radio freezes up. Though, it still shows the radio is transmitting, I was unable to connect a rover to it. I tried to restart the unit by holding the power button. The radio display disappeared, but the back light remained on, and no text would appear. I have to manually pull the 5 pin LEMO cable from the radio to get it to turn off.

I connected the R2 to the laptop running Trimble installation manager. I then attempted to install the latest version of firmware to the R2. After thirty minutes of installing, I received an error indicating a fatal connection error had occurred. After this, the R2 would power on however after five seconds the power light blinks off then comes back on after ten seconds. It will no longer connect to Trimble Installation Manager nor will it connect to be phone which I am using TerraFlex on.

I was using the “area” feature on this device, and it was working completely fine for about 30-45 minutes. After saving the data, I tried to use the device again, and it crashed and now continues to crash whenever I try to turn it on. I tried resetting the device (soft, hard, and factory resets) but to no avail. I also tried turning on the device when it was plugged into AC to ensure that it was not a battery issue. This device had not been used in about a year and a half until this issue occurred two weeks ago.

The customer still wants all the dust covers replacing on lemo port 1 & 2, the signature line plastic ring also needs replacing. Then any other issue found on testing

This unit has been used as part of our ARDOT RTN for many years. On 12/27/2023 we noticed that it went offline. After arriving to see what was going on, it was tracking satellites, but it was rapidly flashing through the menus on the front screen. I tried new cables and different router ports with no luck. I tried to reset the receiver, and even brought it back to our office to try a local ethernet connection.

Unit fell off back of truck bed while in protective case. Still turns on and functions properly but will not level. Levels in one direction but as soon it the unit is turned it loses level. IF POSSIBLE – we would like an estimate before repairing. We are considering buying a new Trimble unit altogether depending on cost of repairs since this one is fairly old.

On an inconsistent basis, the unit will turn itself off as if it loses connection to the battery. This happens with all batteries used and they are fully charged. It may go for a few minutes, hours or days between occurrences but it does happen often enough that the field guys are bringing to my attention.

The GPS receiver was being utilized as a base station. When setting up the reference station in the Web I/U using our 3rd party’s control point cords. We noticed the vertical position height was adding an additional 102ft on top of the ARP Height we inputted. The GA830 (positioning antenna) was selected to use APR with zero antenna height; so, I’m trying to figure out why or where it’s getting an additional vertical average from. R12 Head needs repair. Battery door does not close all of the way. Battery contact inside is corroded (on the far-right contact) and the head occasionally turns off while surveying and struggles to turn back on at times.

Does not recognize SIM card/cellular data. SIM card slot does not lock the SIM card in. I verified SIM card works by putting it into another data collector. I did not include the SIM card with the data collector. I believe this will be the same issue as the previously sent DC.

Unit was working fine until an external antenna was plugged in (Tornado). Not known at the time, the antenna had been run over by a UTV, and was no longer functioning. It seems the antenna may have shorted something out within the unit, as the unit can no longer pick up satellites, even when using the internal Geo 7x antenna.

Any idea on the issue and approximate repair estimate?

The only issue reported on this unit is that it will not power on. Temp fix items completed are: 1) multiple batteries 2) QD Contact Cleaner/Cleaning ports on batteries and Receiver 3) Pushing battery further in 4) Shimming battery with paper to better increase odds of battery connection. Tommy N has been working on an additional unit with same issues.

We have a geo7x that is giving us fits. It is constantly dropping satellites, or says it has 18 satellites but will not collect points when you tell it to take a point generic. I have delet3d alot of our larger files to see if that helps, but it did not. We have a new da2 but it there is no seamless upload to Autocad as of yet that we know of, so we need this one to work.

Trimble Access Does not open and Run. I can access “my device” and I see data and folders but cannot access basic operations. I spoke with Kenneth and he requested that I try Trimble connect with hard cable and no luck there either. While repairs could we go ahead and update to the most current operating systems and version of “Trimble Access” as well as calibrated and certified. All data has been archived so there is no danger or concern of loss of data from the instrument. It can be wiped clean.
